Bashir Zubayr, a consultant with Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, has been abducted along Lokoja-Okene federal highway in Kogi state.
The medical doctor was abducted alongside two of his younger brothers and a younger sister at Irepeni, about 20km from Lokoja, on Wednesday.
According to family sources, Zubayr was traveling to Okene for the 40th day fidau prayer of his late mother.
The sources also disclosed that his car was last seen at Irepeni with the doors left open.
Cases of kidnapping have been reported in several parts of the country in recent times with Kogi among the states where the federal government is tackling insecurity.
This was despite President Muhammadu Buhari’s assurance that the era of insecurity in the country would soon be over.
A few weeks ago, some medical practitioners were attacked and kidnapped in Ondo state. Dayo, a son of Isaac Adewole, former minister of health, was also abducted in Afijio local government area of Oyo state.
Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo state, had also narrated how suspected kidnappers targeted his convoy.
