Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin: Awoniyi Inspects On-Going Work, Hails Wada and Smart Adeyemi’s Influence

The Kogi State Government says it is committed to showing more than a passing interest towards ensuring that the Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road awarded recently by the federal government is made motor able.

The State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, gave the assurance when he inspected on-going work on the road which he stated was last rehabilitated eighteen years ago.

Awoniyi expressed excitement at the remedial work done on the road by the contractor to make it passable, even as he charged the contractor to speed up the temporary patch of the failed portion of the road while the opening up of the shoulders and actual work is hastened so as to meet expected completion date.

The Deputy Governor who described the Kabba-Egbe-Ilorin road as very crucial to the socio economic life of the nation, said the hardship faced by the people of the area and motorists who ply the road is long overdue, thus the reason the state government is showing serious concern assured that it will do all within its reach to ensure that the road is made passable.

Awoniyi commended the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan for awarding the road and the show of commitment to get the road rehabilitated by Capt Idris Wada, the State Governor.

He also praised the role played by Sen Smart Adeyemi and other Nigerians who had assisted in drawing the attention of concerned authorities for the road to be rehabilitated.

The Deputy Governor, commended CGC, the contractor handling the project on quality of work so far executed, however tasked them to speed up the temporary relief measures of sand filling and patching failed portions of the road so as to serve as relief,even as permanent measures are continued with.

Earlier in his remarks, Mr Shem Yan, the Field Manager of CGC, said following State Government’s directive, efforts he assured has been made to sand fill the road as a palliative to motorists who ply the road, and assured that efforts will also be intensified to meet up the target date for the completion of the project.
