A youth based social cultural group, Okun Youth Leaders Forum has endorsed Arc Salman Idris for the  Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2019 general election.
The group, in a release signed by Oluwafemi Ajijola and made available to the press, stated that their decision was informed by the need to substitute shallow, myopic, arrogant and deceitful professional politicians currently in play in the political leadership space, who have bastardized leadership and ignorantly ridiculing themselves and our people by obstinately persisting in their public display of ineptitude and directionless representation.
Ajijola said the Okun youth leaders are rooting for political professionals who understands the etiquette of leadership as it concerns both human and economic developmental processes.
“Emancipation of our people from political leadership bondage is our main motivational factor.
“Do you know that about 55-65% of Nigerians do not understand the workability of government mechanisms and this section of our population are predominantly youth, women and rural area dwellers, what happens then when one factors in these clueless drunken leaders of ours into that equation? your guess is as good as mine, so it has become imperative that we reinstate professionalism into our leadership to bring back incisiveness in our polity, that’s where Arc Salman and co comes in,” he said.
The group insisted that they will only support political aspirations that involves experienced professionals with a clear vision on ways of our youth emancipation and development as well as clear cut plan to stir us clear of this poverty shackle, like Arc Salman.
Mr Ajijola said the youths are conducting independent assesment, antecedent and character of all aspirants for various offices with a view to nominate candidates with track record of patriotism and service. He said Arc Salman has in the years past promoted educational development in Okunland through payment of JAMB registration fees for over one hundred students through the students body, paid school fees for hundreds of students, sank over six boreholes in various communities of the federal constituency, contributed generously to community development programs and projects.
The group however vowed to mobilize youth and women delegates to support him in the primary elections coming ahead.
The group which is the umbrella body of all youth groups in Okunland is a part of the Kogi Youth Leaders Forum formed by patriotic professional young Kogites, young captains of industries, renowned public opinion moulders, journalists, men and women of good will who are from the various communities of the state and are deeply saddened by the  poverty, suffering, insecurity and stunted sociopolitical and economic development of the people, inflicted on them by the sham of leadership narrative that is anti developmental in nature, promotes dependency, thuggery, hooliganism and general break down of law and order.
