If you posit that his appointment as Caretaker Chairman is divine, you’re stating the obvious.
If you ever conceive it that new ideas could evolve, manifest and instantaneously yielding positive results, you might be perceived as day-dreaming, juxtaposing the old order.
Alas, the stark reality on ground today, is that our dear Kabba-Bunu LG is breathing a new lease of life under the tutelage of Hon. Barr. Dare Zacchaeus.
Evidentially, the once seemingly lack of passion, motivation and lackadaisical attitude towards work by the LG employees is beginning to be in the past!
On his first day of assumption of duty, Hon. Zaccheaus spoke glowingly of the workers reminding them of being a viable partners in progress. He admonished them to take their job serious and passionately advised them to brace up.
After this interaction with the Head of Departments (HOD’s) and workers, it is now a common knowledge that the LG employees now resume work daily as early as 8am & closes by 4pm!
There is no magic wand to this behavioural change.
It is due to knowing where the shoe pinches and proffering landmark and enduring legacies.
In terms of protection of lives and property, the LG Chair have indeed, taken a bold step by immediately interacted with the security apparatchiks and cautiously reminded them of the need to nip in the bud the incessant attacks and threats on dwellers of the local government.
This singular efforts too is churning out considerable amount of success.
There is no point reiterating the fact that a new sheriff has just landed!
Pointedly, it would interest an old visitor to the LG that the place is now wearing a new look. The premises and environs have been put into a better and habitable position.
Kudos to the proactive nature of the man at the helm of affairs.
In one of my private visit to the LG, I overheard a group discussion among the workers as regards the non- usability of the convenience in the LG Secretariat and that now, the toilet have been rehabilitated for visitors and workers to use.
I was also dumbfounded to hear that Kabba-Bunu LG Education Authority Office has been disconnected from the natíonal grid for several years.
Today, the LG Caretaker Chairman is making frantic and concerted efforts in collaboration with the AEDC Manager to ensuring that electricity is restored back in no distant time.
Information reaching my desk from Barr. Dare also depicts the fact that one of the abandoned SUV vehicle within the premises will soon be rehabilitated for the official use of the Supervisory Councillors. He concluded by saying, ” all hands must be on deck to bringing back the lost glory of our dear LG.”
In my consternation, I still find it pretty difficult to come to terms with the fact that a local government in Kogi state could still thrive with or without the monthly allocation, overheads and security vote.
For the records, it is pertinent to say without prejudice that when you place a square peg in a square hole, either in private or public assignment, what you get in return is unhindered possibilities, zero tolerance for mediocrity and indiscipline, sterling performance and undoubtedly, morale boosting synergy between the led and the leadership.
With no iota of pessimism, Hon. Barr. Dare Zaccheaus has started on a strong footing. I can only hope, that he accomplishes the arduous task of governing Kabba-Bunu LGA on a stronger and veritable summit.
