  • My greatest joy is to the people decamped because of a Governor Bello’s performance – Omoluabi

No less than 64 members of the main opposition parties, People Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC), has defected to the All Progressive Congress in Odolu political ward, Kabba local government of Kogi state.

They defected on Thursday during the ward tour of the APC campaign team in St Barnabas Secondary School Kabba.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Mrs Grace Ibikunle said they decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress as a way of showing appreciation to Governor Yahaya Bello for the construction of St Joseph-St Barnabas, St Barnabas-Orita Ópóló and St Barnabas- Anglican Cathedral Roads, all in the Odolu Ward of the LGA.

She commended the Governor for the road construction that has changed the social economic, environmental and beauty of the area thereby making life convenient for the people and making movement around so convenient unlike what they have experienced in the area for more than two decades.

Mrs Ibikunle said aside the road construction, they were grateful to the governor for appointment he extended to four people from the ward in his cabinet, namely Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi who is the Special Adviser on Civil Service and Labour Matters; Hon Omosayin Kayode, Senior Special Assistant on Security; Hon Zacchaeus Dare Michael, Executive Secretary, Kogi Office for Disability Affairs and Hon George as Commissioner at the State Independent Electoral Commission who are all from Odolu Ward.

She promised that the ward will not disappoint the government.

The leader of the decamping group, Mr Joseph Ajayi said their former party abandoned them immediately after the 2019 general elections and as they cannot continue with their leadership style, they decided to join the APC.

Receiving them into the party, the Kabba/Bunu APC Chairman, Comrade Solomon Jemibawondo commended their decision to join the progressive at this crucial time towards the general elections, stressing that their action is a well thought out one that the party is happy about.

He urged them to see themselves as full members of the party as the APC constitution does not have old or new members, because the day anyone joins the party to become a member they have the same rights as other members.

Commending on their wise decision, the Senatorial and House of Reps candidates of the party for Kogi west and Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu, Hon Sunday Karimi and Matthew Kolawole said their action has further consolidated the strength of the party in the area, stressing that APC is a party to be in considering its people centered policies that has engender development in the country.

They appealed to them to continue to preach the gospel of the party as all the candidates of the party are credible individuals with track records that will make a positive difference when they are elected.

While speaking during the event, a leader in the ward and Special Adviser to the Governor on Civil Service and Labour Matters, Omoluabi Bode Adeyemi assured the candidates of the total support of the people in view of the sterling performance of the Governor in the ward.

He said it is time to reciprocate the APC-led government’s performance in the ward with their votes.

He expressed appreciation to the people of the ward for the large turnout to receive the party, adding that his greatest joy is to see decampees who joined the party because of Governor Bello’s performance.

Hon Adeyemi said Odolu Ward and entire Kabba have never had it this good in the last three decades from any government.
