Member representing Ankpa 2 constituency at Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Alfa Momoh Rabiu has called peaceful understanding among Nigerians in order to remain resolute to the ideals of nationalism and nation-building against all odds.

This was contained in his message to Kogites and Nigerians in general as the nation mark the June 12 – Maiden “Democracy Day” celebration.

The lawmaker noted that it is a trying time for Nigeria but urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the task of having a one indivisible nation stressing that “we have no other country to call our own and hence must surely overcome the forces of darkness and resurgence to hold a common front.”

Hon Rabiu described democracy as one of the nation’s greatest progress that must be guarded jealously as it places the destiny of citizens in their own hands and thrusting the task of leadership and the management of the nation’s resources upon their shoulders, commending President Muhammadu Buhari for naming June 12 democracy day in honor and reversal of the controversial June 12, 1993 annulment.

Saddened by the spate of killings and insecurity in some parts of the country, he admonished all Nigerians to irrespective of tribal, religious, sectional and political party differences build an irresistible bond against insurgency and strive to ensure peace in the country as there can never be development without peace and security.

He thereafter assured the commitment of the Kogi state legislature to work with the executives as well as state security apparatus towards ensuring security in the state in order to improve the lives and livelihood of Kogites vis-a-vis purposeful law-making and other legislative activities.
