The Force PRO, Jimoh Moshood who was supposed to be away for a six weeks training in China was said to have returned to carry out the job of delivering Dino Melaye to Lokoja.
Sources said he had only spent a week before abruptly returning to Nigeria on Tuesday on hearing that SARS operatives had earlier lay siege to Melaye’s house on Monday.
According to a source, Jimoh Moshood is said to have been induced to do the hatchet job, hence his quick return to Nigeria before the completion of the 6-week training course he had already embarked on.
Sources added that save for the “contract” of delivery Senator Dino Melaye to powers-that-be in Lokoja, Kogi State, operatives of the Nigeria Police will not insist on forcefully taking the lawmaker out of Abuja when the case against him had been transferred to the nation’s capital by the acting CJ of the Federal High Court, Justice Abdul Kafarati.
Insiders privy to the deal but not directly involved further revealed that Moshood is being tacitly aided by the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, who had already been summoned by the Senate to appear before it next week Wednesday.
“I can confidently tell you that the IGP will not appear before the Senate because he is deeply involved but if he eventually appear before the lawmakers, listen to him and read between the lines afterward,” one of the sources noted.
