Hon. Jethro Funsho Oni, popularly known as ‘Chop I Chop’, is a leader per excellence who has been described by numerous political, traditional, and religious leaders, as well as writers and general masses as a transparent, honest, hard working and performance oriented leader.
At no time in the history of Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency have such rare qualities of a leader so needed than today.
Here is a man who is deeply dedicated to salvage his constituency. Jethro Funsho Oni (JFO) has gone into the rough and tumbles of politics, seeing first hand for himself the suffering and stress the populace go through on daily basis and with that knowledge in hand he vowed solemnly and publicly to be a candidate for CHANGE.
What a leader! What a true democrat!
Hon. Jethro Funsho Oni (Chop I Chop) is a qualified champion and defender of democracy on behalf of all of us that care for democracy. Here is a man who is still speaking out his mind over ill modalities when others have remained mute.
In this, JFO more than any leader today stands to represent our voice and freedom of expression. Here is a man that believes the power to elect a leader rests with the electorates. Hon J.F Oni is our beacon of hope. We surely need a leader of his stature to succeed; a leader that has Faith and audacity to face challenges; and one that has no fear but the fear of God, Almighty.
The Kabba born philanthropist is on a familiar home ground and for a person of his knack for building relationships and budding friendships the intrigues of politics is not new.
An important barometer of a viable democracy is the sanctity of the voter’s wish, Hon. Jethro Funsho Oni a. k. a Chop I Chop as a state lawmaker between 2007-2011 representing the good people of Kabba/Bunu constituency moved life changing motions which drew the attention of the then Governor Ibrahim Idris.
Some of those motions include;
– Motion calling on the state government for the rehabilitation of old Kabba Water Works along Owode quarter, Kabba.
– Motion calling on the state government to complete Ole/Oke Offin electricity project
– Motion calling on the state government for the construction of protective guard in form of iron rail along Pata Kabawa, New market road, Lokoja.
– Motion calling on the state government about the excess increment in WAEC and NECO fees by secondary school principals in Kogi State.
– Motion calling on Kogi state government to introduce national health insurance scheme (NHIS) for Kogi state civil servants.
– Facilitated the bill for the establishment of technical college, Kabba,which was passed into law by the then Governor Ibrahim Idris
– Bought vehicles for traditional rulers in his constituency to enhance the mobility of the monarchs.
– As a crusader of self employment, he bought sewing machines and motor cycles to further stem down unemployment in his constituency.
– As an ardent lover of students coupled with his enthusiasm for education he at various occasions paid the tuition fees of indigent students in his constituency.
– Owing to his keen interest in entrepreneurship he empowered a vast number of his constituents in various entrepreneurial skills.
– Facilitated many appointments to his constituency.
– Hon JFO was the first house of assembly member in the history of Kogi state to embark on poverty alleviation program (PAP) where the then acting Governor Clarence Olafemi presented 60 sewing machines across Kabba /Bunu, and also gave cash to some individuals for small scale business.
These enormous are testaments that the policies and programmes of Hon. Jethro Funsho Oni are for the total transformation of the people he represents.
He has shown that he is someone who is prepared to lead, someone who has done his homework.
Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency deserves a leader that has the interest of the people at heart. A leader that is strong and visionary; he has tenacity to get through the most difficult of circumstances the office and duties his assignment require.
Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu federal constituency needs a ‘Can Do’ leader, a listener, a team leader, and a high achiever because just like any other region in this country has the God given talents to work and explore workable solutions and ideas we can harness to reach our destination, not destruction. That is why a visionary, strong, trustful and dynamic leader of the caliber of Hon. Jethro Funsho Oni a.k.a Chop I Chop as honourable member at the lower chamber of the National Assembly is needed the more this time around.
