Innovation Commissioner, Dr Adeniyi Delivers Lecture on AI, Security, Emerging Economies in Africa, Receives Award

Dr. Adeniyi Aderibigbe Helen, the honourable Commissioner for Innovation Science and Technology delivered a top notch lecture on the theme: Artificial Intelligence, Security And Emerging Economies In Africa: Challenges And Prospects.

The event which was organized by the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 17, of The National Institute of Security Studies (NISS), Abuja will be lasting for seven days.

Today, 28th April 2024 commenced the program in Kogi State government house, with CDR. Duro Jerry Omodara, the State Security Adviser opens the lecture and closed by a very rapt lecture by the Hon. Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Adeniyi Aderibigbe Helen.

Dr. Aderibigbe who thrilled her audience with essential depiction of AI and Security in Africa, described AI as the ability of smart computers and programmes to perform tasks that would normally have needed human intellects. According to her, AI has great and enormous potential in various areas, including energy, agriculture, health, retail, and logistics. The advantages of using AI may include higher productivity, better decision-making, better client experiences through optimising energy use and assisting with precision information.

She maintained that the use of artificial intelligence especially the industrial robots is key to high productivity and can provide users with economic benefits and ease people’s lives, but it also poses potential risks, she said.

Aderibigbe further elucidated AI as a catalyst for emerging markets and for transitioning towards knowledge based modes of production particularly in Africa and beyond.

She posited that AI is going to improve the economy of Africa and drive Africa into the fourth revolution stage in divers sectoral point especially as the use of technology takes a center stage in the global markets.

She draws her conclusion on the challenges Africa is facing and prospects Africa stands to gain, if intensify efforts by African governments to have a robust frontiers for growth and development among themselves are to be harnessed.

She received an award and further craved for collaborations to grow the potential of her newest ministry.

The Commissioner however join the the organizer the event to visit Nigeria-Korea Institute where the Rector of the institute also delivered his key note on the same topic after which the inspection was done on the various machines in the institution. While the team finally moved to visit various monumental spots with Lokoja metropolis.
