INEC Registered 1,364,674 in Kogi

Over one million three hundred and sixty four thousand six hundred and seventy four persons registered to vote in the last permanent voters card registration exercise.

The state resident electoral commissioner, Olusegun Agbaje disclosed this to newsmen during an interactive session with representatives of all political parties in Kogi state.

He said the commission will soon issue out time table and schedules of activities inline with the new electoral law.

He announced that the commission also registered over one hundred and thirty thousand six hundred and two person during the continuous voters registration exercise in may 2014.

He said the commission is conducting the transfer of voters cards of another five hundreds and fifty four persons to another polling units.

He re assured that the Independent National Electoral Commission is poised to conduct free fair, credible and acceptable election in 2015.

He warns leaders of political parties against high level desperation noticed across the country and cautioned them to play the game according to the rule.

He demanded that notice of all congress, conference and meeting of parties should be given to INEC offices at least 21 days before the date.

He also announced various categories of punishments for different types of electoral offenses.

“I wish to let you know that INEC will continue to focus on its mandate guided by its missions and vision towards a free and fair election in Nigeria”.
