INEC Declares APC’s Yahaya Bello Winner of Kogi Governorship Election

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has won the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State.

The Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Garba, announced this on Monday.

Professor Garba returned Bello as the winner of the election after scoring the highest number of votes in the poll.

Bello polled a total of 406,222 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr Musa Wada, who scored 189,704 votes.

According to the Returning Officer of INEC, the poll recorded 610,744 valid votes, 13,777 rejected votes and 149,576 cancelled votes. Total votes cast was 624,514.

The agent of PDP, Capt Joe Agada rejected the results and declined appending his signature on the final result.
