James Faleke, the running mate of the late governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kogi State, Audu Abubakar, has condemned the impeachment of the Speaker of the Kogi House of Assembly, Momoh Lawal.

Five out of the 20 members of the legislature removed Lawal on Tuesday and elected Umar Imam as the new speaker.

The deputy speaker, Alih Akuh, and the majority leader, Kolawole Matthew, were also removed.

Condemning the development in a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle on Tuesday, Faleke described the impeachment as the height of impunity.

He said, “I was told that five out of the 20 members of the Kogi State House of Assembly – supported by the illegal government of Yahaya Bello – have impeached the speaker.

“The impeachment of the speaker by five out of the 20 members of the assembly is another illegality sponsored by the government of Yahaya Bello.

“The impunity and recklessness under Bello in Kogi State must stop. We cannot afford to be in the news for the wrong reasons always.”
