A former member, Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Zekeri Ohiemi has expressed confidence and support of the people of Imane community towards the re-election quest of Senator representing Kogi East, Atai Aidoko Ali.
Honourable Ohiemi dropped this hint during a courtesy call at the National Assembly on Friday.
He reassured the senator that the people of Imane district will not repeat the mistake of the past by massively supporting other aspirants from other areas who have little or no regard to the people of the area.
Alhaji Ohiemi said contrary to speculations that the senator may not attract any support from the area, the district  will lead Ogugu and Okpo communities to ensure mass mobilisation of the people towards the realisation of his re-election bid.
The former lawmaker stated that the visit on behalf of Imane stakeholders was germane at this period of electioneering campaigns, adding that their support for Aidoko is not negotiable in view of his glaring political value.
Ohiemi urged the people of Olamaboro to shun politics of ‘pull him down’ so as to ensure the progress and development of the immediate communities of the Senator and by extension the entire Kogi East.
The former lawmaker used the opportunity to thank the senator for donating a new 500kva transformer to the community and his plans to extend the new high tension line from Onitcha-Igo junction to Okpo, adding that when completed, it will ameliorate the epileptic power supply in the area.
Ohiemi told the people not misunderstand the business of lawmaking to that of political appointees with executive powers and other paraphernalia of office, reminding them that provision of basic social intervention program is an appendice of their primary assignment at the red chamber.
He congratulated the senator for remaining undaunted in spite of glaring political persecution and distraction, urging the people not to venture into supporting any APC candidate as the consequences, by extension, will be continuous promotion of poverty among the people of Kogi East and the state in general.
Honourable Ohiemi urged other contestants to rally round the senator in his efforts to attract federal presence to Kogi East, as the ranking status will have positive multiplier effects directly on the Igala race.
He thanked the senator for offering himself for continuous service and development of his communities in all ramifications.
Aidoko expressed satisfaction with the level of awareness and acceptance of the people of Imane. He urged them to demonstrate same in the elections in 2019.
Senator Aidoko used the opportunity to debunk insinuations that he had coerced the national leadership of the party into conceding automatic ticket for him, assuring them of a level playing ground to ensure victory for PDP in Kogi East and the entire state.
He stressed the need to discourage needless political bickering and accept the party’s decision that will detach the people of the state and Nigeria in general from the shackles of maladministration witnessed in the last three years.
