I am disheartened to see Rt Hon Umar Ahmed Imam decamp from the ruling APC to SDP. Recall that weeks ago I appealed to stakeholders in the party to not let Imam leave, but today in a press conference, the man left with his supporters.
Most painfully is that he left to SDP when a reconciliatory committee has been set up to reconcile all aggrieved members back to the party.
The political weight of RT Hon Umar Ahmed Imam in Lokoja LGA cannot be underrated, he has drawn more sympathy from members of his constituency than any other politicians in Lokoja LGA. This is why such a political stronghold should be kept by all means.
I wish RT Hon Umar Ahmed Imam success in his new party. I know we will miss you in APC. Though, it would have been gratifying if you would have exercise patient and see how far the reconciliation goes. This is a party you have helped nurtured in Lokoja LGA and Kogi State.
Like a man I know and cherished, Imam. I will say the exit hurts.
