Illegal Possession of Firearms: Police Arrests Nasarawa Varsity Student in Kogi

A 400 level student of the Department of Geology, Nasarawa State University, Musa Mohammed Nurudeen, has been arrested by policemen in Kogi state for illegal possession of firearms.

Kogi state police command disclosed that its operatives arrested Nurudeen for possession of five Baretta pistols and one 9mm ammunition.

In a press release issued by the public relations officer, DSP William Ovye Aya in Lokoja on Monday, the police command said Nurudeen was arrested during its routine stop and search duty at Oguda bridge, along Okene-Auchi road.

Aya said the arrest was made on February 2, 2021, by operatives attached to 77 PMF Okene.

The police operatives intercepted a black unregistered Toyota Tacoma Hilux driven by one Daniel Adaniki and a passenger one Musa Mohammed Nurudeen. After thorough search, five Beretta Pistols and 9mm ammunition were recovered from the vehicle.

“During interrogation, Musa Mohammed Nurudeen confessed ownership of the five Beretta Pistols and 9mm ammunition.

“He further confessed that, he is a Student of Geology at the Nasarawa State University and a member of Neo Black Movement of African Confraternity.
That he was attacked by the Vikings rival cult group in school and decided to secured the pistols from Benin to fight back and protect himself,” Aya said.

The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Ede Ayuba Ekpeji, while commending the Officers of 77 PMF for a good job, assured members of the public of the Commands’ determination to ensure adequate security of lives and property in the state.
