The Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area in Kogi State, Hon. Haruna Ibrahim, has assured residents in the area of his commitment to their safety.
He gave the assurance when he visited the closed Iyara Zango Cattle Market on Monday.
He explained that the purpose of the visit was to assess the level of compliance with the directives issued to address security concerns in and around the market area.
As part of the enforcement measures, individuals found within the closed market were ordered to leave, while suspected criminals were promptly arrested by security personnel on-site.
Hon. Ibrahim emphasized that the safety and security of the people of Ijumu remains his top priority.
He stressed the importance of ensuring that no security breaches occur within the closed market.
He explained that market was shut down to prevent criminals from exploiting it as a hub for illegal activities, thereby safeguarding the lives and property of Ijumu residents.
During his visit, the Chairman reiterated the commitment of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to maintaining a zero-tolerance stance against kidnapping and other criminal activities in the state.
He commended the Governor for his unwavering support and prompt response to the security challenges facing Ijumu Local Government.
He assured residents that his administration remains dedicated to ensuring a safe and secure environment, allowing the people of Ijumu to live without fear of insecurity.
