Let nobody ever say that Ibrahim Abagwu is not a listening leader. Never say that. From the early days when he assumed the office to the present, Hon. Abagwu has been the epitome of patriotism, feeling the pulse of the people and dancing the waltz to their tempo. Patriotism is the overwhelming lover for ones country, displayed not only by mere words but deeds, this underscores him.

It is a known fact that Ibrahim Abagwu has distinguished himself from the previous Council chairmen. The few months he spend in the office cannot be compared to his predecessors. He has put the the necessary things in its places to make sure that Ankpa is back as a local government to reckon with.

A former American President, John Fitzgerald Kennedy admonished to Americans to; “Ask not what your country can do for you but ask what you can do for your country”.

The above quotation is what you can find in him. It is obvious that the world is facing serious financial crisis due to the novel Covid-19 virus, but despite that, Abagwu is using the little means within his reach to change the looks of the country council and that is what the good leader and manager should do.

Hon. Abagwu put his council first before another things. He is not trading his Council’s interest for a morsel of bread and he always put his life on the line for the betterment of Ankpa Local Government.

Part of leadership quality that he exhibited, Abagwu would not do anything to undermine the integrity and progress of the people he is governing. Leadership is the overwhelming zeal to make things work and a genuine concern over what is not working well, that is the kind of a leader Abagwu is.

He gives more to his council than he takes from it. What that means is that, where leader are patriotic, it impacts positively on the nation’s socio-political and economic progress of the led.

The patriotism Abagwu exhibited is what makes him faithful to his duties and obligation to the council. Any citizen who is not patriotic can never be faithful to his nation. If there is anything Ankpa Local Government has been lacking for since it inception, it is nothing but patriotic men and women. But glory be to whom His blessings flows to bless the council with Hon. Abagwu and Martha, his vice chairman.

Abagwu, coming to office as a chairman, has put an end to the society where everyone can decide and where there is no respect for rule of law. Many political analysts and politicians have been asking questions that after Abagwu and Martha, who else can maintain their legacy? The question is still hanging in the air and nobody can provide the suitable answers to that question, but God that brought him for the people of Ankpa would bring another person to continue from where he stops.

Hon. Abagwu does not only exhibit patriotic behavior, but also strive in whatever capacity to achieve something meaningful for the council. He put Ankpa as his first, second and third priority. He gave out everything to ensure that the council return to a peaceful society, including trading personal comfort.

If only past chairmen and followers alike in Ankpa imbibes model of patriotism, Ankpa will be better for all.

Other attributes of patriotism is honesty, sincerity, respect for the constitution and law of the nation, promotion of democratic ideals, good governance, respect for the right of others and respect for public properties – all these attributes are found in Ibrahim Abagwu.

Indeed, in Abagwu, the people of Ankpa Local Government have finally found their missing ribs.
