‘I Don’t Feel Embittered About Criticisms’ – Senator Adeyemi Urge Supporters to Tolerate Opponents

  • My empowerment is targeted at rejigging the micro-economy of Kogi West.

Senator Smart Adeyemi (APC/Kogi West) has cautioned his supporters against insulting real and perceived political opponents.

Speaking at his empowerment program in Iyara, Ijumu local government area of Kogi state, on Saturday, Adeyemi said he views criticisms with an open mind.

He charged the younger folks to respect elders and refuse to be used by politicians to insult people old enough to be their parents.

“What matters in leadership is good representation and I will always speak the mind of the people I represent.

“I speak the mind of the people on the street of Kogi West and always look for ways to ameliorate the pains of people in the senatorial district.

”Because of that, I don’t feel embittered about criticisms. I have also criticised people’s policies but not their  personality.

“So, I don’t want anybody to attack my political opponents. Don’t allow politicians to make you receive curses. You must respect your elders. For me, God is my defender, He fights for me and so I don’t want you to fight on my behalf,” he said.

At the empowerment program, Adeyemi distributed tricycles, sewing machines, motorcycles, grinding machines and cash to constituents from across the 85 political wards in Kogi West senatorial district.

The senator also distributed sets of computers to some secondary schools in the zone.

Adeyemi said he has decided to distribute items that have direct bearing on the socio -economic activities of the rural people of his Constituency.

He said the materials will not only have direct bearing on each beneficiaries but will rejig the economy of the area.

“We have decided to embarked on these empowerment as a means of changing the micro- economy potential of the rural areas.

“Each of the items will contribute in changing the economic narratives of the beneficiaries and the families,” he said.

50 tricycles, 50 motorcycles, 40 water pumps, 115 grinding machines, 100 sewing machines, thirty set of computers and cash worth over 10 million were distributed at the program.

The Chairman of Okun Traditional Council and Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, commended Senator Adeyemi for touching the lives of people across board.

According to the Royal father, “any elected official that perform, we will continue to pray for him and whoever do the opposite, we will not curse him, but we will not pray for him.”

The empowerment program is coming just two days after the senator disbursed 20 million Naira bursary funds to selected students of tertiary institution in the district.
