The House of Representatives candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the August 11 Lokoja-Kogi bye-election, Hon. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has denied defecting to All Progressive Congress (APC).
Gegu made the declaration while speaking with newsmen in Lokoja on Thursday.
He explained that contrary to rumours making rounds, he remain a loyal and committed member of the PDP. He stated that he has never contemplated moving to APC.
“Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the good people of Kogi/Lokoja Federal Constituency whom this rumour is aimed at, let it be established that I remain a loyal member of PDP and have no intentions of leaving or working against the interest of my party.
“It is unreasonable for me to leave the PDP, a party I joined in building at both state and national levels,” he said.
Bashir urged his supporters, members of the PDP and the people of Kogi State to remain steadfast as PDP is poised to takeover come 2019.
