The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega, has said he did not know anything about “the scientific rigging” method which the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) alleged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) used to win the December 3 governorship election in Kogi state.

Jega spoke with journalists after the swearing-in of eight newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioners in Abuja

He said though the conduct of the election might have had its shortcomings, it was still free, fair and credible.

According to Jega, “Honestly, I think the election was free, fair and credible. Though there could be some delays in the arrival of election materials in some states, it was just minor.”

“I’ve just heard about this issue of ‘scientific rigging’ for the first time. I don’t know what that means. But sincerely, I think we did well in Kogi.

“However, if we have anyone or political party that is not satisfied, they are free to approach the tribunal. It is part of electoral process.”

He asked the Action Congress of Nigeria to challenge the outcome of Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi State in court if it is not satisfied with it.
