The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi West has assured the people of the area that the pains of the past four years will soon end.

In a statement signed by the chairman on information, media and publicity of the Dino Melaye campaign organization, Hon. Bawa Yakubu, the party stated that hunger has stripped majority of their dignity.

He noted that the party has concluded its tour of all the wards in Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal constituency. Bawa lamented that in the nine wards of Kabba district, the same expression of agony brought on the people as a result of the callous style of governance in the state and the federal level was rife.

“From Ike-Bunu through Olle, Aiyede, Oke-Ofin to Okebukun, Odo-Ape and Agbede-Apa in the six wards of Bunu district, the lamentation of the people is resounding. Hunger has stripped majority of their dignity; a situation PDP pledged to remedy.

“The various leaders of the party who addressed party faithfuls in the various wards, stressed that the coming elections has provided another unique opportunity for the people to vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for President, Sen. Dino Melaye for the Senate, Hon. T.J Yusuf for House of Representatives; Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Bar. Alfred Bello for Kabba/Bunu State Constituency and Hon. Saliu Adewale. In so doing, they people were told will remove the shackles of deprivation foisted on them by the All Progressives Congress.

“In Ijumu Local Government Area, the campaign train took off from Aduge through Ogale, Aduge, Ayere to Ogidi. In all the wards visited, the electorate came out in their numbers to hear the message of hope of the PDP with a pledge to vote massively for all PDP candidates in the coming elections. The campaign later moved to Iyamoye and touched downs at Ekinrin-Adde, Egbeda-Egga, Iffe and Iyara.

“The following day, campaign started at Iyara after which the team proceeded to Gbedde starting with stopovers at Okoro-Gbedde, Odokoro, Aiyegunle, Iyah-Ayeh and ended in Aiyetoro-Gbedde. In all the areas visited, the enormous crowd that trooped out to receive the campaign team has reinforced the dominance of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi West.

“It is worthy of mention that in all the places visited, the campaign went well and in peace except in Odokoro-Gbede; the hometown of Hon. Taufiq Isa, Ijumu Local Government Area Administrator, where thugs alleged to be acting on the orders of the Administrator attacked the PDP campaign team and vandalized some of the vehicles in the campaign,” the statement read.

Bawa admonished electorate to vote all PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections as the ‘change’ promised by the ruling party has been nothing but hardship for the people.
