‘The Chair’, as Hon. Muhammad Mabo Kassim is fondly called, is a bold and courageous leader.

He has had personal experience in grassroot politics having contested and won to become the first ever Executive Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Council to be elected on personal merit and as an independent candidate.

Hon. Muhammad Mabo Kasim cares about the people. He is widely known for his selfless service to the poor; he sponsors indigent students to educational and professional institutions among others.

Mabo, who was elected Chairman of Lokoja local government council in 1996 under the ‘Zero Party’ system, has no ties to the corrupt political class. He has the broadest base of supporters and has not accepted ‘political money’ or get carried away by juicy appointments at the expense of his people and is the least compromised by big money and special interests.

Chairman! as he is fondly addressed by his teaming admirers, is honest with the people. After almost 11 years of unparalleled performance of our late Leader Rt Hon. Buba Jibril, we deserve a successor who not only tell the truth, but also has a reputation for lifelong honesty. Hon. Muhammad Mabo Kasim demonstrated this loyalty during our late leader’s medical trip to London when he was appointed by Late Rt. Hon. Umar Buba Jibril to supervise the empowerment programs, commission constituency projects among many others.

We deserve a honest successor, that person that will sustain the legacy of our mentor and leader of blessed memory, Rt. Hon. Umar Buba Jibril.

Mabo inspires people of all ages to action. wwhile inspiration alone isn’t enough to get the job done, it’s a necessary ingredient to sustain the hard work and monumental achievements recorded by Late Umar Buba Jibril!

Hon Mabo’s unwillingness to cross the line into the dark side of politics by compromising what belongs to his people has touched a fundamental place in the hearts of many who are eager to believe that the political process is not entirely a cynical joke, personal ambitious or avenue to enriched oneself.

How do you see the chances of Mabo, considering the clamour for an anointed candidate in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Edward Onoja chief of staff and his principal, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State?

It is no secret that some people in the federal constituency are agitating for an anointed candidate in the APC, propagating it as a fulfilment of the arrangement by the power to be as replacement of our late Leader Rt. Hon. Umar Buba Jibril. The question that needs an urgent answer is what has those agitating done for the Constituency, Lokoja and Kogi Local Government Areas in particular and Kogites in general? The simple answer is nothing.

However, it is imperative to state that producing the replacement of Rt Hon. Umar Buba Jibril is a task that must be achieved with Hon. Muhammad Mabo Kassim’s ambition. His candidature transcends political party, tribal or ethnic coloration.

A onetime State Chairman of All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) and Congress for Progressive Charge (CPC), a party he led to victory in 2011 when late Rt Hon. Umar Buba Jibril emerged as the only CPC Reps member from the entire North Central.

Hon. Mabo Kasim led the CPC to merge with ACN, led by Late Prince Abubakar Audu, the winner of 2015 Governorship election, to form the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Together with Late Barr. James Ocholi, SAN, Hon. Mabo Kassim coordinated The Buhari Campaign Organizations in Kogi State ahead of 2015 general election.

Mabo has shown, with his forward-thinking initiatives and proposed policies, to be that candidate. I couldn’t be more pleased with the way he managed his vast supporters, with his ceaseless demonstration of dignity, superior intellect and unparalleled innovation. The Chair! will be a Member for all the good people of Lokoja/Kogi Federal constituency. He cares about what is best for the greater good and will represent the people. It is instructive to note that Hon. Muhammad Mabo Kasim’s mother is from Lokoja 1 Constituency while his father, Late Alhaji Kasim Gana, a technocrat and politician of repute, is from Kupa in Lokoja 2 Constituency. You cannot get it better than Mabo who is a true Kogite in particular and Lokoja/ Kogi Federal Constituency indigene general.

A serving Special Assistant to Speaker Yakubu Dogara in the House of Representatives, Hon Muhammad Mabo Kasim’s actions have always been motivated by a sincere desire to do what is fair and equitable, even if it means losing ground with his people. If given the opportunity to serve as Member representing Lokoja / Kogi federal constituency, the constitute will be more unified as a people than it has been in the past.
