The House of Assembly candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Ijumu state constituency, Otunba Shuaib Ipinmisho has declared that he is the right option that will move Ijumu to the promise land.
Ipinmisho made this declaration on Sunday during a brief interview with newsmen.
The assembly hopeful stated that considering his past and present political experience he has the wherewithal and the strength to move his constituents from the shackles of poor representation and inject a decent and quality representation to the political clime of Ijumu constituency.
When asked what motivated his aspiration to represent the people of Ijumu constituency, Ipinmisho said: “it has been part of me to find a way to assist people around me and in my locality. The major source of good governance is when you have effective legislature and a vibrant assembly that can put the executive on it toe. Not until that is achieved that can we have good representation that we crave for. So my major desire to move Kogi forward motivated my readiness to serve in the assembly.”
He stressed that the present Kogi State House of Assembly has failed to carry out its primary assignment which is to check the activities of the executive and enact laws that will have tremendous impact in the live of the people.
Ipinmisho promised to combat the excessive intake of drugs by the youth in Ijumu and Kogi State.
“Majority of youth are on drugs these days. If we are not careful in some years to come we may not be able to manage the atrocious outcome of the challenge of consumption of hard drugs by our youth. My major assignment is to encourage government to wage serious war against illicit drugs.
“I believe the priority of someone like me will be shifted to enhancement of agriculture. There is so much in farming if you provide the enabling environment. The army of youth around are ready to work if you provide the necessary ingredients, I will establish a vocational training center where our youth can engage themselves in vocational skills and I will then provide a revolving loans for the youth to build them up. The money will be available for youth that are members of an existing group. Also there are several organizations out there that are eager to help the people without necessarily waiting on government. So when I am elected next year i will tap from those potentials and make sure our youth benefit massively from such opportunity.
“I will discourage the tendency of giving the youth peanuts that can not help them to become useful to the society. I will build them up and make them happy and useful for themselves. When you give a youth the sum of 50 thousand naira, you have not help such youth because after a week the money will be consumed on frivolity and such youth will still come back and beg for same amount but when you encourage them to partake in a vocational training or agricultural works, you’ll hand over to them what to eat for the rest of their live,” he said.
Ipinmisho urged the people of Ijumu not to elect someone who have no viewable agenda for them. He promised to be accessible, accountable and open for criticisms if need be.
He also thanked the people of Ijumu constituency for their support so far towards the people’s agenda, he promised not to fail his constituents.
