The people of Olamaboro local government area of Kogi state will go to the polls to choose who to represent them at the Kogi State House of Assembly this Saturday. The campaigns have reached a crescendo as the two major candidates, Hon Linus Enenche of the PDP and Comrade Bobby Ujah of the APC are done selling their parties.
Olamaboro people don’t need to search far before making up their minds on who among the candidates to vote for.
Apart from the fact that Hon Linus Enenche, who is flying the banner of the PDP, has a good head start because his first term has given him a lot to market in terms of achievements, while the court case against Comrade Bobby Ujah on false information in regards to his resignation/salary is enough reason to disqualify him if found guilty.
The electorate are keen to vote for the candidate whose candidacy is sure and considering the hardship the APC as a party has brought upon the Olamaboro people, the APC will be finding it difficult to win in this Saturday Assembly election.
If we are to go by antecedents of the two candidates, no doubt Hon Linus Enenche has set a pace for himself. Right from the time he was education secretary to the point of his first tenure in the House of Assembly, his achievement is remarkable as they are all there for us to see.
Hon. Linus Enenche is the only assembly member that have represented Olamaboro who have projects to his name: He drilled bore holes at Ofa, Okpo and Emagaba Ogugu, constructed ten market stalls in each of the following districts; Agaliga, Etukwo, Imane, Adeh, Okpo, Adupi, Ogugu and Alagani Okpo Olamaboro. He also constructed okada park at Agaliga Eturkwo, constructed health care centre at Mabenyi Imani with procurement of SUMEC Firman 500kv generator to power their mosque.
These are few out of numerous ones.
There is no district in Olamaboro where Hon Linus Enenche failed to construct at least a project or more.
It is on that ground I urge us all that we should dwell more on who had performed than hiding under zoning to drive our sentimental agenda.
To my brothers and sisters from Ogugu who are agitating that Kogi State House of Assembly seat be zoned to Ogugu, I will like to remind you of the key appointments occupied by Ogugu citizens.
Few out of the numerous appointees from Ogugu:
1. Chief Edward Onoja – Chief of Staff to the Governor.
2. Dr Attah Ahmed – SA Health
3. Rosemary Osokoya – Commissioner for Education
3. Joshua Onoja – Secretary, APC Kogi State
4. The current Ejeh of Olamaboro in person of Chief Simon Ujah is from Ogugu.
5. Emmanuel Odiniya (Perm. Sec.)
6. Arc. Bob Achanya (DG Kogi Bureau of private/public partnership)
7. Ogugu also have one permanent secretary and the current Education Secretary in person of Mr Idoko is from Ogugu.
As a love abiding people, we should be fair to Okpo axis as this Assembly seat is the only thing that is giving Okpo a sense of belonging in the leadership space in Kogi State and we are not negotiating with it.
Okpo with the highest number of wards (5 wards) against Ogugu with 3 wards ought to enjoy at least one key office.
The good people of Olamaboro should not lose her opportunity of voting for continuity as they have tested Hon Linus Enenche first term and can conclude which member had actually done better in terms of human capital development and infrastructure.
Yorubas would say “oti gbepo wo, oti gbomi wo, o ti mon eyi to wuwo ju” (you have lifted water and you have also lifted palm oil so you know which is heavier.
Olamaboro people should know by now that any break from the present progressive government will spell doom for Olamaboro as this people are too desperate to get into power.
We most stand firm and resolute in defending the people’s mandate by supporting and voting in Hon Linus Eneche in for a second term in office.
