Babarinde Sunday Adeyemi, Vice Chairman of the Directorate of Media and Publicity, Kuli Campaign Council, has warned rumor mongers to stop overheating Yagba West local government with rumor of planned conduct of a fresh election, all in a bid to discredit the electoral victory of the House of Assembly candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon Ibikunle Simon Idowu.
In a statement issued on Monday, Babarinde cautioned supporters of losing party to be wary of comments capable of causing post-election violence and mass hysteria among the peace-loving people of Yagba West.
He appealed to opposing political parties to respect the peace accord they signed before the House of Assembly election which saw Hon. Ibikunle Idowu emerge winner of the poll.
He further called on the people of Yagba West not to be distracted as the election was won by Hon Ibikunle Idowu having met every constitutional requirements before a candidate can be returned winner of an election.
“We have all campaigned hard and strongly. The people of Yagba West listened to all of us and made their decisions by voting massively for Hon Ibikunle Idowu, popularly called Kuli.
“The body officially designated to reflect the voices of Nigerians is the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). No party can bully them by threatening to do its bidding.
“The commission have declare a result which reflected the people’s choice. It is, therefore, commonsensical for every individual to accept the result, while redress can be sought if not satisfied with the election result,” he said.
