Okun Land and people are peaceful, loving and accommodating. We are not known to be violent people neither do we condone violence.
As a matter of fact, many who are not Okun people took to social media before today to praise our people for the peaceful manner parties and candidates went about their campaigns.
I also joined in commending our people irrespective of the political party we belong or candidate(s) we support.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi West Senatorial District started their ward to ward campaign across the 64 Wards in the 5 LGAs of Okun Kingdom on Tuesday 15th January, 2019 through Yagba West, Yagba East, Mopa-Muro, Kabba-Bunu and today Tuesday 22nd January, 2019 in Ijumu LGA.
It went well and peacefully in all the 64 Wards except in Odokoro Ward in Ijumu LGA where Hon. Taofiq Isa, Kogi State ALGON Chairman is from.
When the campaign train arrived Odokoro, it was noticed that a group of APC minors (I will not call them thugs because they do not have that capacity), led by Hon. Taofiq’s son and the APC ward Chairman threw stones from a distance at the convoy of members of the campaign team that broke right rear glass of the car belonging to Chief Abiodun Ojo, former Commissioner for Finance and the back windscreen of Elder Olalekan Aiyenigba’s car.
In as much as I agree that there will always be a Judas in every community and ethnic group or a prodigal son in every family, it is important to caution and ask that Hon. Taofiq Isa henceforth desist from this kind of act capable of tarnishing our image before the state and the country at large because, that is not who we are.
Lastly, it is also pertinent to correct today’s negative impression caused by the singular act of Hon. Taofiq. Okun people are peaceful, calm, loving and accommodating. Politics cannot turn us against each other.
