A former female member of Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Agnes Oziwere-Ojeba, has congratulated the state’s Governor-elect, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, on his victory at the recently concluded gubernatorial election.
The congratulatory message is contained in a letter personally signed by her and made available to newsmen on Sunday.
According to the former lawmaker, Ododo’s emergence emergence is a reflection of the fact that the will of the people must prevail.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain noted that Ododo’s campaign slogan, KOGI AGENDA, was one which encapsulated the whole yearning of the masses and added that the people of Kogi state expect him to hit the ground running as he faces the daunting task.
“The task ahead is enormous but the fact that you have goodwill from across board should make the task a bit easy for you and we hope that you will use this goodwill to make Kogi State proud of you.
“As you embark on the process of a transition to a new administration, we pray that God Almighty will guide and direct your steps as you prepare to provide the much-needed service and leadership to the good people of Kogi State,” the letter read in part.
Hon. Agnes, however, admonished the Governor-elect to allow his words be his bond and allow a positive difference seen and felt across the state.
“The best way to thank the Kogites for this mandate is by giving it your best shot and delivering on your campaign promises. I want to respectfully remind you that you are here to represent the entire Kogites.
“A lot of trust and confidence has been bestowed upon you by your mentor, boss and predecessor, a worthy, indefatigable leader and White Lion of our time whom I usually call the ‘Jagaban of Kogi State’, HE, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello and good people of the state.
“Gov. Yahaya Bello has laid a solid foundation for you to follow without any hassles whatsoever in the areas of security, health, education and greater inroad to agriculture and infrastructural renewal. He has indeed, done a lot to ensure the growth and development of our dear state through his visible unprecedented achievements, as acclaimed by the masses of Kogi State and the outside world.
“I enjoin you to focus on the sustained development of our state in the areas of peace, security, as well as safety of lives and property that the state has enjoyed in the last eight years.
“As part of efforts to open up the state and create economic prosperity for citizens, as incoming Governor of Kogi State do ensure your administration embarks on the construction of rail lines from Lokoja to the Abuja within the lifespan of your administration by collaborating with the Federal Government and with your sheer determination to reposition Kogi State as the number one tourism destination in Nigeria, do ensure that the State Tourism Bureau quickly commences the regulation, licensing and grading of all tourism establishments in the state, a state that is a nexus to ten different states of the federation, a gateway to the south and north.
“I hope to see the moribund Ajaokuta Steel complex revived completely to make Kogi State the industrial hub of the country, considering the fact that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is hell-bent in reviving the complex abandoned by previous administrations.
“In the area of putting an end to the perennial water shortages across the state which the outgoing administration has put in place the necessary machineries, I expect you to, within a shortest period of your assumption of office, to lay to rest the indispensable need of Kogites.
“I pray, hope and believe that you will make us proud. Once again, congratulations, Your Excellency, on your deserved victory at the polls. On behalf of my family, I wish you the best wishes as you prepare to assume the responsibilities of your new office.”
