Herdsmen Killings: PDP Donates Food, Cash to Victims in Kogi

…calls for concrete steps to stop menace

Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) have donated 30 bags of  rice, 30 bags of Semovita and undisclosed huge sums of money to the victims of the recent fulani herdsmen attack in Omala, Dekina and Bassa Local Government Areas of Kogi state.
Presenting the items on behalf of the party at the palaces of Ojogba of Ife, Ejeh Dekina and Aguma of Bassa, the immediate past governor of the state Capt. Idris Wada stated that the party was touched by the level of destruction done to people and has decided to show its commitment to the welfare and well-being of the people by giving her widows mite to ameliorate the suffering of the  victims.
Wada who lamented at the sad incident in which the people where violently killed and properties destroyed urged the people to remain prayerful for God to give them fortitude to bear the loss.
He stated that the PDP as a party in Kogi would have visited the victims immediately the incident occurred but decided to wait a bit for the situation to normalise, stressing that the items donated may not be able to redeem the loss but it is to show how much the party care for them.
“Our slogan, power to the people is not just mere sayings but it is for welfare, health, education and the provision  of gainful employment for our people anywhere they are across the country.
“When the PDP was in power in the state, my administration responded swiftly when fulani herdsmen tried to unleash havoc on Omala, Dekina and Bassa. We deployed over 63 armed policemen, Naval personnel and soldiers to these places for over a year to ensure that fulani herdsmen do not carry out their threats.
“The records are there and I urged the present government to check records that we handed over so as to help them to prevent this kind of brutal killings and destruction of properties of our people by the fulani herdsmen.
The former governor tasked the APC government to take concrete steps at preventing further clash between fulani herdsmen and crops farmers saying that the lives of our people are so sacred to be stifle with blame game.
In his remarks, the paramount ruler of Omala, HRH Bonifice Musa commended the PDP for coming to their aid at a very worst moment in the history of the Local Government Areas, adding that the party has demonstrated the adage of being ones keeper.
The monarch who was visibly embittered by the carnage on his domain said a total of 183 houses were burnt down and 7 persons including a traditional ruler were killed in Omala villages alone saying the visit of the party has rekindle their hope in God.
Those on the delegation were the members representing Omala and Bassa in the state House of Assembly, the Vice Chairman of the party, zonal party chairman and other Exco members of the party in the state.
