Mr. Abdullahi Abdulmalik, the head master of LGEA Standard School Onyukoko, Okene LGA deserves an award of excellence from Kogi state government as a hardworking and dedicated school head. He has made the schools earned recognition for academic excellence in and out of Kogi state.

Abdulmalik led the pupils that participated in the last concluded grand finale of the 15th edition of the Annual National Mathematics competition organized by Nigerian -Tulip International Colleges and National Mathematical Center in Kaduna and Kano respectively.

Recall that the school emerged best at the 2018 edition of the mathematics competition. From the two zones, they won 5 gold medals out of 6, 4 silver medals out of 8 and 5 bronze medals out of 10 all together.

18 out of 19 northern states participated and the brilliant participants from L.G.E.A Standard Schools, Okene, Kogi State came out to be the overall best, courtesy of Mr. Abdullahi Abdulmalik’s efforts and the workaholic staff of the LGEA Standard school.

This is happening for the first time in history of the state. There is no school in the state that has achieved this feat in area of education.

Schools that win these awards take the initiative to create quality instructional programs. With dedication and hard work of Mr. Abdulmalik and other teachers have made the school done an excellent job for other students to emulate, despite the odds.

In view of this, we are calling on the state government to complement the efforts of the parents by providing scholarship to most of the pupils and absorb the teachers on contract basis.

The school has won these awards four times consecutively; the school must be made to meet high standards to achieve such awards again. I urge the government to improve on the infrastructure and provide more learning material to the school.

Hon Abdulmalik deserves credit. I appeal to our able state governor, His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello, Engr. Abubakar Ohere and others, this is ‘our own’ and they should not let these efforts down. I will say sarcastically, that this achievement be compensated with car and bungalow for the headmaster.

To this end, I hail the hard-working teachers to keep the flag flying; I’m just very pleased with them. The cooperation of school management and the parents should be sustained. I would like to see our other schools to achieve such records.
