GYB Model Science, Army Day Secondary Schools Emerge Winners of Akinrin Debate First Session

The GYB Model Science Secondary School and Army Day Secondary School Lokoja were declared Winners of the first session of Akinrin Educational Foundation Inter-School Debate Competition organised for Schools in Lokoja Local Government Area.

The debate with the theme ” Education and Money, which is more important for success” has GYB Model Science Secondary School vs Scintillate Internetal School and Army Day Secondary School vs Julitola International School proposing and opposing.

At the end of the Competition, Army Day Secondary School emerged a winner with 73% as against 57% scored by Julitola International School. The GYB Model Science Secondary School was also declared Winner as Scintillate Internetal School did not attend the competition.

In his address, the State Commissioner for Education Hon. Wemi Jones represented by the Monitoring Inspector (MI) Mrs. Hajara Mohammed Commended the organisers of the competition for adding value to the educational development of the State.

He described the debate as a contest to celebrate the power of knowledge, critical thinking, effective communication and intelligence amongst the Students.

According to him, ” debate remains one of the valuable platforms for monitoring minds, building confidence, encouraging research and developing future Leaders”

He Commended the Students and their handlers for their dedication and hardwork and urged them to approach the competition with confidence, integrity and the spirit of healthy competition.

Announcing the results of the debate, the Chairman of the Panel of Judges Mr. Abdul Paul of the Department of Quality Assurance Kogi State Ministry of Education Commended the Debaters for putting up excellent performance.
