The younger generations of enemies within and their cohorts are scheming once again to give us a repeat of 1983 episode, when Ebira traded her head in exchange for a cap.
As young as we were then, the history won’t fade from our hearts as narrated by men who have the progress of Ebiraland at heart.
During the 2nd Republic, late Alh. Adamu Attah (Blessed memory), the 1st Executive Governor of Kwara State was everything to Ebiraland. While on seat as the Governor, he made sure Ebiraland had the best of developments. schools, provision of portable water, constructions of roads, hospitals, low cost houses were executed by his administration. He ensured that his kinsmen handled most of the projects as evident by the wealth most of the Ebira politicians amassed during his administration. Even though, successive administrations left them to decay, they are still scattered all over Ebiraland with most still in use.
Despite all his efforts to reposition his home, Ebiraland to greatness, the best our people could give as appreciation was to denounce him and reject him during his reelection bid, gave out the chance and settled for second fiddle which they believed serve us better due to hatred and envy.
As fate would have it, he went on to contest but was defeated courtesy of the Ebira votes that were mostly cast for his opponent as they preferred to see him fall than complete his second term. His offence was probably, why was he trying to develop Ebiraland or why must it be Alhaji Adamu Attah of blessed memory.
What was given to Ebiraland by providence then, was rejected, abused and thrown to dustbin courtesy of hatred, envy and pull him down syndrome.
What we got then on a platter of gold took us a journey of about 33 years in the wilderness before respite came in the form of Alh. Yahaya Bello who was sworn in as the 4th Executive Governor of Kogi State on 27th January, 2016.
Dear Ebira nation, home and in diaspora, time have come again to either repeat the sad history of 1983 or chat a new course for ourselves to the benefit of ourselves and generation unborn. Of course, we need to put on our thinking cap and allow the people’s Governor complete his second tenure peacefully and honourably.
We are not returning to Egypt midway, the journey must be completed and Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello to maintain the lead for another 4 years, period!
Like Adamu Attah like Gov.Yahaya Bello, God forbids. Then, it was accidental, now it’s obvious and they’ve been exposed blatantly. This time around, we are more prepared than ever.
