It was learnt that after the kidnappers gained access into the house, they demanded for N50 million from the chairman who told them he has no money. Source said when the gunmen discovered that Adaviruku was not ready to play ball, they decided to kidnap his wife, Hasiya and her two-year-old baby.
While confirming the incident yesterday, the Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Mr. Timpa Rendegha, said when the state police commissioner got wind of the incident, he immediately deployed an 18-man squad to the local government to rescue the victims.
Rendegha added that though the case was not reported at any police station, he said the chairman only called the divisional police officer in the local government, who hinted the commissioner of police later who set up a search party from the headquarters.
The police spokesman said that at the scene of the incident, a Ghana-Must- Bag-Go bag containing AK47 rifle and 18 rounds of ammunition were recovered and handed over to the police.
