Worried by civil disturbances of unnecessary masquerade outing in Ebiraland, the Ebira Youth Congress has urged the state government to enforce its law banning masquerades in the area.

President- General of Ebira Youth Congress, Sheik Adai Mamman, who made this call while speaking at the 12th edition of the annual summit at the weekend, stated that the situation is becoming unbearable when masquerades flouted government’s order.

Mamman said it is obvious the state government was lackadaisical in complying with enforcement of the ban on outing of masquerades.

According to him, “how do we explain that for some time now masquerades are on the streets in every part of Ebiraland to celebrate their member’s delivery of babies or Sallah festivals and Christmas despite the law banning outing of masquerades in Ebiraland, and without law enforcement agents doing something about it?”
