A non-political organisation, Omala Youth Elite has lauded Governor Idris Wada for completing all inherited projects by his predecessor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris just as the group condemned the immediate past local government chairmen in the state for abandoning uncompleted projects from their predecessors.
The completion of the projects, according to the group, has demonstrated that the Governor is not a leader that allows resources to waste, noting that government is a continuum.
The group argued that if the Governor’s works were replicated at the grassroots level, the state would have been a focal point of attraction and administration.
The president of the group, Mr. Jeremiah Wada stated this when he led members of the group on a courtesy visit to the General Manager of The Graphic Newspaper, Mr. Donatus Okpe in his office last week.
He also called on all politicians to do away with politics of bitterness, dwell on issues of development as it is done in other parts of the globe.
Mr. Jeremiah stated that the scramble for political powers suppose to be an avenue for people to develop the land and not use political positions for selfish interests.
The president who said that the mission of the group is on youth development, advised the youth to start preparing for leadership in the future by participating actively in leadership process.
While responding, the General Manager of the corporation, Mr. Donatus Okpe, commended the group for taking cognisance of the effort of the Governor to complete inherited projects for the benefit of the people of the state.
Mr. Okpe noted that even as some states are unable to meet up with the payment of staff salaries due to dwindling resources, Kogi State has been up to date with the payment of workers’ salaries and also embark on physical projects.
He lamented that the local government chairmen failed to follow the footstep of the government in providing dividends of democracy to rural dwellers, just as he commended the governor for embarking on people- oriented projects.
