Group Commends Wemi Jones for Unprecedented Transformation in Kogi Education Sector

A sociocultural group, Bunu Elite Club (BEC), has commended Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, for his unprecedented achievements in the sector in the last four years in the state.

The club’s Chairman, Hon. Oniwaye Olusegun John, made the commendation during a courtesy visit to the office of the Commissioner on Tuesday in Lokoja.

The Chairman on behalf of the club also congratulated the commissioner on his recent reappointment to continue to lead the Kogi Education Ministry.

He said the visit was for the club to familiarize with the commissioner and also to congratulate him on his recent appointment to serve as a commissioner under the administration of Gov. Ahmed Usman Ododo, the executive Governor of Kogi State.

While enumerating the vision and mission of the club to the Commissioner, the chairman noted that the club predominantly “serves as a voice for the youth and the vulnerables actors in Bunu land”.

“It is worthy of note to know that the education sector has witnessed unprecedented transformation under the leadership of Hon Wemi Jones in the last four years.

“Kogi people will always remember you and our former Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, for the establishment of two State Universities in Kogi’ State under four years.

“The Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) and Kogi State University (KSU), Kabba as well as GYB Science Model Secondary School across the three Senatorial zones.

“Secondary school teachers recruitment is another area in Kogi education sector that has witnessed significant transformation, because students cannot be well equipped without qualified and adequate teachers in public school,” he said

The Chairman stressed that the numerous achievements recorded in the education sector under the leadership of Hon Wemi Jones, motivated the club to celebrate their son and his reappointment to the same ministry for continuity and consolidation of the previous administration.

Also speaking, a club member, Mr. John Ikuenayo, appreciated the commissioner for his support towards the development of the education sector in the state.

Ikuenayo urged the commissioner to continue to do more for the people as his previous performance necessitated his reappointment.

Another club member, Engr. Daniel Olorunmaiye, appreciated Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo, for finding their son worthy to serve under his administration.

He pledged the total support of the club towards the success of the commissioner in all ramifications.

Responding, the Commissioner appreciated the club for coming to familiarize with him and to also encourage him on the little achievements recorded in his ministry.

Jones promised to do more with the support of Almighty God and his principal, His Excellency, Gov Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The commissioner pledged his support for the club members whenever the need arise and most importantly in the area of employment opportunities.

The highlight of the visit was the presentation of a Congratulatory Frame to appreciate and encourage the commissioner to do more as all his efforts never went unnoticed.
