In the wake of the dissolution of the cabinet today, Hon. Ibikunle Amodu Abubakar, the Senior Special Assistant on Youth Empowerment (West), has expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for the opportunity to serve in his cabinet.

Hon. Abubakar also acknowledged the Chief of Staff, Pharm. AbdulKareem Jamiu Asuku, and all other critical stakeholders for their support and partnership in achieving remarkable results.

Since his appointment on May 5th, 2021, Hon. Ibikunle Amodu Abubakar, popularly known as ‘Prime,’ has immersed himself in core service-oriented initiatives within the Kogi West Senatorial District. His relentless efforts to bring dividends of democracy to the people have left an indelible mark.

Hon. Amodu wasted no time in commencing impactful projects after receiving his appointment letter from the Secretary to the State Government. He initiated visits to prominent kings and rulers across the senatorial district, establishing strong relationships with them and offering himself as a dedicated tool for national development. His efforts were met with widespread acceptance, and he quickly gained the cooperation of the good people of Kogi West.

Within his first three months, Hon. Amodu established the Youth Empowerment Scheme, benefiting 26 individuals who receive monthly stipends under the initiative called “Food First.” This innovative program aims to ensure that the youth in Kogi West have access to essential needs, particularly adequate food, so they can be productive and think clearly.

Another notable undertaking was a crowdfunding campaign on social media for the “Omi Asuku” borehole project in Ayegunle Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area. At first, there were skeptics questioning why a government official would seek public funds. However, the campaign gained momentum, with generous donations pouring in, totaling N1,548,500 in a matter of weeks. The Osaseyi Foundation emerged as the highest donor.

The borehole project, facilitated by Oriyomi Drilling Service, was commissioned by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pharm. Jamiu AbdulKareem Asuku, represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Danga Abdulmumin. The Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the initiative and appreciation for Hon. Amodu’s innovative approach in sourcing funds for timely project completion. As a gesture of goodwill, the Commissioner promised to extend the project with two additional stanchions in different areas of the community, further alleviating water scarcity issues.

Following the success of the borehole project, Hon. Amodu accompanied the honorable Commissioner to inspect the abandoned Nilo Water Dam along the Eba River’s water bank. Hon. Amodu’s proactive approach gained the Commissioner’s attention, who promised to expedite efforts to revamp the facility. Once operational, the dam will benefit Ayegunle, Iyah, and Ayetoro Gbede communities.

Moreover, through his empowerment initiatives and crowdfunding tactics, Hon. Amodu forged a partnership with the Osaseyi Foundation, chaired and founded by Comrade Richard Osaseyi, an esteemed philanthropist and community builder from Ijumu Local Government Area. This collaboration has led to the successful execution of numerous projects across Kogi West Senatorial District. Recently, the foundation, in synergy with Hon. Amodu’s office, facilitated the release of five inmates unable to pay fines, and they also funded the drilling of a borehole in a community in Kabba Bunu Local Government Area.

Additionally, Hon. Amodu’s “Education is a Must Campaign” has supported the payment of school fees for at least ten students. His empowerment schemes encompass programs for widows, underprivileged individuals, vulnerable youths, and a myriad of financially sponsored initiatives and used his good office to facilitate Government Jobs.

In just two years and half in office, Hon. Ibikunle Amodu Abubakar, a former National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) frontier, and a prominent youth crusader, has epitomized true representation. His service-oriented antecedents have brought immense development and relief to the people of Kogi West Senatorial District.

Hon. Ibikunle Amodu Abubakar has remarkably transformed Ayegunle Gbede community during his tenure as Senior Special Assistant on Youth Empowerment (West), by spearheading an innovative street lights installation initiative. Within just two and a half years in office, he has successfully illuminated the community, making it a safer haven for night walkers. Through his unwavering dedication, Hon. Abubakar has not only improved public safety but has also demonstrated his commitment to youth empowerment and community development. His remarkable achievements shall continue to inspire generations to come.

He specially acknowledged the support and patience of his beloved wife and children, who gave him the moral support from home and also their understanding of the demands of the appointment which most times takes him away from the family. The legacy of Hon. Ibikunle Abubakar Amodu will forever be remembered in the annals of Kogi State.

Deep appreciation goes to His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello, and his astute Chief of Staff, Pharm. Jamiu Abdulkareem Asuku, for providing him with the opportunity to serve the people and make a tangible impact.
