Candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the November 11, 2023 governorship election in Kogi state, Hon. Leke Abejide, has assured the electorate that promoters of political violence will be tame before, during and after the polls.

Abejide gave the assurance in Lokoja on Friday during a harmonization meeting with over 15 support groups working for the actualization of his governorship bid from Kogi Central senatorial district.

He pledged to make the people of Kogi Central proud.

“On the November 11 Kogi governorship election, nobody will be allowed to use thugs. I can assure you that it will be resisted by the Federal Government.

“November election will be peaceful in Kogi state. If we notice any clandestine, dangerous movement, we will engage security agencies to tame it.

“Nobody can intimidate anyone, we own Kogi state together. In this election, we will not allow thuggery.

“Whoever is involved in violence will be tamed. Whoever dares to engage in political violence will pay dearly for it. I don’t believe in violence and will never support, nor encourage it.

“If I am popular, I should win, if not, I will lose.

“There will be no problem in this election. All I need from you is unity of purpose and dedication,” he said.

Abejide enjoined supporters to report any signs of political violence to him for immediate action.

The ADC governorship candidate promised to revive and modernize the Greater Lokoja Water, popularly known as ‘Ibro Water’, and ensure residents enjoy ceaseless flow of portable water.

“The incoming Leke/Omede government will guarantee safe water in our homes. We will reticulated Ibro Water to ensure unserved areas like Felele and Zango begin to enjoy water supply in their resideces and places of work,” he pledged.

Abejide re-assured the people of Kogi Central senatorial district that he won’t disappoint them when elected into office.

He announced that he be paying West African Examination Council (WAEC) fees for all students across the five local government areas in Kogi Central this year.

“I will pay WAEC fee for all students in Kogi Central by October this year. This intervention will not exclude anyone, regardless of the recipient’s political inclination. When we assume office, I assure you that we will continue to pay for all students. Also, widows will have cause to smile.

“We want to assure you in Kogi Central that we will not disappoint you.

“You will not work in vain. I have a pedigree in rewarding hard work, loyalty and commitment.”

The deputy governorship candidate of ADC, Dr. Idris Omede, assured the supporters that Abejide is a man of his words.

“He has demonstrated this in his federal constituency. He believes in equity, fairness, A character most people preach but has been unable to demonstrate.

“You are the deciders. And we believe you know what is good for you and your families. Give us your votes, make us your servants for a new Kogi state.

“With these crop of leaders from Kogi Central, who believe in Kogi Project, equity, justice and fairness, we are confident of victory at the polls,” he said.
