Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has promised to embark on aggressive rehabilitation and construction of roads across the three senatorial districts of the state for the benefits of all the citizenry.
The governor who stated this yesterday at Eika-Ohizenyi in Okehi local government area of the state during a reception organised in honour of Hajia Sa’adat Atimah by the community, noted that the suspension of road construction works across the state was due to the rainy season, saying that contractors have been mobilised to sites to continue work on the roads, now that the rains are over.
Governor Bello, who was represented by the Commissioner for Works, Land, Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Abdulmumuni Sadiq, said his administration will concentrate on the provision of critical infrastructures which he noted will benefit the people of the state.
The governor noted that the over 10 kilometers Iktape-Eika- Kuroku-Okene road was embarked upon by his administration because of the economic importance of the road to the people and other users, assured early completion of the project to ease movement of goods and services.
According to him, most of the reforms instituted by his administration is achieving the desired objectives, adding that the problems associated with payment of salaries in the state will soon be a thing of the past.
He noted that no meaning development can take place in an atmosphere of acrimony hence his administration deployment of reasonable resources to curb all cases of insecurity ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping and incessant killings in the state.
In her speech, Hajia Sa’adat Atimah commended the governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for the concrete steps taken so far to ensure prompt payment of pensions in the state.
She promised that she will not disappoint the governor and the pensioners whom she was appointed to serve, assuring that the problem of pensioners in the state will soon be a thing of the past once the needed funds are available.
