Governor Wada Donates N1Million To Kogi Legion Of Ex-Servicemen

Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State has donated the sum of one million Naira to enhance the living standard of Legions of Ex-servicemen in the state.

Wada made the donation on the occasion of the celebration of Armed Forces Remembrance Day and Emblem Appeal Week, Kogi State Chapter which took place in Government House, Lokoja.

While giving his opening speech, the State Security Adviser, Air Commodore Matti Abdullahi (Rtd.), commended the Governor for giving them logistic support and a conducive environment for the ceremony in honour of those who laid down their lives for others.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Nigeria Legion of Ex-Servicemen, Capt. Johnson Ogu (Rtd.) said that the 2014 ceremony was unique because it coincided with the country’s centenary.

He noted that Lokoja played a prominent role in world peace and indeed the peace of a united Nigeria, as the state capital harbours two World War cemeteries and cenotaph.

The Governor of Kogi State, Capt Idris Wada, saluted the fallen heroes and the surviving ones for their services to the country and humanity.  He urged everyone to pay tribute to the fallen heroes.

While reiterating his continued support for the ex-servicemen, the Governor also increased the monthly subvention to the Legions by 50% and called on the 21 local government councils in the state to always give financial support to them.

Present at the glass hall of Government House Lokoja were  retired and serving  military personnel with their wives, Governor Idris Wada and his deputy, the PDP Chairman and state executive members.
