Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is sacking civil Servants systematically under the guise of ‘Ghost Workers’.

This allegation was leveled against Bello by a political activist, Usman Okai Austin in a chat with Kogireports.

Describing the systemic retrenchment embarked upon secretly by the governor as  callous and unreasonable, Austin alleged that names of many civil servants have been excluded from the ongoing screening exercise.

“The new trend of sacking workers and labeling them ‘ghost’ is unacceptable and highly condemnable”, he said.

“The governor did not work for the election so he can afford to disorganize the state before he leaves. All the actions taken so far by Alhaji Yahaya Bello of Kogi State shows he has a hidden agenda. We will be giving details of what Yahaya Bello has done to destroy the good works of Kogi state in the last few days in office.

“For instance, in Radio Kogi, over one hundred and twenty (120) workers have being denied screening. These  workers were employed in 2014 and had since been on the state salary bill.

“In ministry of works, 80 workers have been denied the screening form by Governor Yahaya Bello. in Ministry of Health, 120 workers have been denied the screening form.

“In water board, 93 workers were denied the screening forms. These workers have been on salary schedule since 2014. This absurdity affects every agencies, ministries and parastatals of Kogi State Government.

“Labeling workers ‘ghost’ to justify the ongoing sacking in Kogi state is unfair! The APC government is unleashing hardship on our people in Kogi state!

“It is no longer news that since Yahaya Bello assumed office, the once peaceful state has had no rest. Kogi is constantly in the news for very bad reasons.

“We recommend that the civil servants who were engaged by the state government be screen without sentiment and outright discrimination. The Governor should be careful with wrong advise, Kogi belong to all and not one section or categories of individuals

Austin called on all well meaning Kogi indigenes to speak out against the ongoing absurd action of the governor and his cronies.
