The Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Domestic Affairs, Alhaji Kabiru Aliyu Ozi-Onyene has described the governor as a ‘head that is blessed with a divine task to be fruitful and useful to humanity’.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ozi-Onyene said Governor Bello is one man whose actions will never be forgotten in the political history of Kogi State.
“He is greatly versatile, courageous and strategic in outlook. Three and half years after, he has been fruitful, creating more products and by-products from his political dynasty than any other Kogi political product in recent history.
“The Governor of Kogi State and the leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Gov. Yahaya Bello who used his sagacity and to ensure the occurrence of one of the greatest upsets in kogi state politics where he won two senates out of the three seats, seven federal house of representatives out of nine and twenty five out of twenty five state House of Assembly seat.
“Gov Yahaya Bello means many things to many people in Kogi state but there are certain things that everyone agrees about him: a political think-thank, master strategist, promoter of politics of inclusion, political futurist and fearless activist and top politician per excellence.
“We recall that when Gov Yahaya Bello became the governor of Kogi state, the state was financially incapacitated. However, Bello’s knowledge of public finance changed the fortunes of the Kogi state that today stands on firm, sure footing of unimaginable development proportion,” he said.
Ozi-Onyene used the coconut tree as an illustration to describe the governor’s long-lasting impact in Kogi state.
“The coconut tree is a member of the palm family. The term coconut can refer to the whole coconut palm, the seed or the fruit. The term coconut is derived from the 16th century Portuguese and Spanish word coco, meaning head or skull, from the three indentations on the coconut shell that resemble facial features. Coconuts are known for their great versatility, as evidenced by many traditional uses, ranging from food to cosmetics. The oil and milk derived from it are commonly used in cooking and frying, as well as in soap and cosmetics. The husks and leaves can be used as material to make a variety of products for furnishing and decorating. The coconut is a good symbol of cultural significance in certain communities. It takes a few years of planting before the coconut tree becomes fruitful, thereafter, it bears fruits for a long time.
“In putting the pieces together, here it is; history is full of individuals whose presence changed the course of human events and altered the fate of a state. We have a head that is blessed with a divine task to be fruitful and useful to humanity,” he added.
Ozi-Onyene urged people of Kogi State to collect their permanent voter cards (PVCs) before the election and come out enmass to vote Gov Yahaya Bello in the November governorship election.
