The major objective of the present administration of Governor Yahaya Bello in Kogi State is to give the state a major economic turnaround that would bring about sustainable development at the end of his tenure.
In doing this, the present administration is not leaving any stones unturned to ensure the resources of the state work for her.
This was the revelation of the state Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed, on Tuesday, shortly after receiving Nigeria’s Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr Ugochukwu Samson Ogah in the state.
The commissioner said the major reason for the visit, which also took the minister of State on a visit to Dangote Cement Factory, Obajana, was to solidify the role of Kogi State as a major player in the solid minerals, mining and related subsectors of the economy.
He noted therefore that for Kogi to succeed, there was urgent need for it to have purposeful leadership like the type Governor Bello is providing and solid partnership with all stakeholders.
“The vision is clear and the Governor is not leaving anything to chance. Under the administration, it is the dream of the Governor to see that Kogi does not only remain a state with highest Mineral deposit, but one with resources that work for its citizens.
“I feel privileged to have been considered by His Excellency to head this all important ministry. We are working round the clock with the staff and other departmental heads to ensure we justify the confidence of the Governor and his team.”
The minister had earlier in a remark, lauded the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello and expressed the preparedness of Federal Government to work closely with state governments to ensure the development of the sector.
