The Director General on Media and Publicity to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Kingsley Olorunfemi Fanwo, has assured Kogi state civil servants that the will have reasons to smile when the verification exercise is done and dusted.
In an exclusive chat with Kogireports, Fanwo acknowledged that the state government is fully aware of the harrowing experiences civil servants went through in the course of the exercise. He however assured that the 13-month long exercise is almost over and workers will, going forward, get what is due to them without hassles.

“The exercise has been successful and the reason it went through different levels of leadership is to ensure quality assurance. Kogi State civil service has been a cesspit of monumental corruption over the years and the current exercise will help us right the wrongs,” he said.
“We are almost through. The Committee will soon handover its reports to the Governor. If there is something the exercise has achieved beyond the billions it will save government, it is attitudinal change. People are having a reengineered mindset. Punctuality and documentation will never be what it used to be. We are also looking at digitalizing the civil service. It is hugely successful.
Kogireports recalled that Governor Yahaya Bello pledged that the exercise will be over and genuine workers will paid by 31st March. 2017. Fanwo re-assured that the committee is working round the clock to ensure they complete the exercise this month.

“The Committee is still working. I think it will be fair on the Committee and the Governor to allow the Committee submits its reports. The Governor was having a projection of early completion of the exercise”, he explained.
“However, we are optimistic the Committee will complete the exercise this month. As soon as the exercise is concluded, the Governor will ensure all cleared workers are paid all their entitlements. We know the civil servants went through some harrowing experiences during the exercise. But the exercise is a necessary surgery to give life back to the state. Governor Yahaya Bello will  put smiles on the faces of the civil servants.
