Gov Bello Swears In Acting President, Kogi State Customary Court of Appeal

• Counsels Him on Erudition, Equity, Fairness, and Allegiance to His Judicial Oaths

Governor Yahaya Bello has sworn-in Justice Isiyaka Momoh-Jimoh Usman as the Acting President of the Kogi State Customary Court of Appeal.

Deputy Governor, Dr. Edward Onoja performed the swearing-in on behalf of the Governor on Monday, at the Government House Banquet Hall, pursuant to Section 281, subsection 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

The Governor charged him to uphold the tenets of justice, good conscience, and fairness.

Congratulating him, the Governor said he is optimistic the legal luminary brings with him the required experience, capacity, and expertise to discharge the assignment effectively.

He explained that Justice Isiyaka’s character and years of dedication to duty were in line with his administration’s unbiased nature towards ethnicity religion, and class, advising him to execute his new office with erudition and compliance to his judicial oaths.

He called on other stakeholders to give him the support he requires to succeed and prays God grants him health and wisdom to perform his duties.

Remarking, the Acting President thanked God for life and described the Governor as being compliant with the Rule of Law.

He said the Governor provides an open ground policy for the judiciary to thrive in the state, promising not to betray the confidence reposed in him.

In attendance were Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Deputy Chief of Staff, Ag Kogi Chief Judge, Grand Khadi, State Sharia Court of Appeal, State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, State Head of Service, and Vice Chancellor, Kogi State University.

Others were former and present Heads of Courts, President, Nigerian Bar Association, and other legal luminaries drawn from the bar and bench, State Security Adviser, Commissioners, members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, and other top government functionaries, heads of security agencies, religious, political, and traditional leaders.

Also joined were the wife and relations of the Acting President, amongst others.

Hon. Justice Isiyaka was born on 1st June, 1967, bagging a Diploma in Law from ABU, Zaria between 1987 and 1989 and a Bachelors in Common and Islamic Law from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, respectively. He attended the Nigerian Law School, Abuja, and is married with children.
