The Security Adviser to Kogi State Government, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (retired) has commended Governor Yahaya Bello for entrusting Okun people with critical assignments which are critical and strategic to making decisions in governance.
Omodara gave the commendation during a familiarisation visit to him by a group called Okun Youths for GYB.
The security chief told that the youths that Gov. Bello loves and hold Okun people in high esteem.
Omodara, who is also an Okun man cited an example with his office, stating that there was never a time other tribes apart from the Igala occupied the office of the State Security Adviser and in the history of governance in the country, both at State and Federal level, most Presidents and Governors feel more comfortable having their kinsmen in such ‘security’ office and/or portfolio but this is not the case in the issue of the detribalized Captain of the New Direction ship.
Other critical positions occupied by people from Okunland in Kogi State Government are; Secretary to the State Government, Commissioners for Finance, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Women Affairs and Social Development.
While the issue of salary was raised, Omodara said the State is gradually getting out of it and expressed optimism that by the end of 2018 it would have been sorted.
He added that the Government is not sleeping because of the issue and there are critical officials who are currently out on the field to bring solution to unpaid salary.
Earlier, the Convener, Julius Abel said the visit is to familiarise the group with Commander Jerry Omodara as part of the leaders and fathers of Okunland in the New Direction administration and to seek for support to carry out the good news of GYB to all nooks and crannies of Okunland.
Abel said the group as a youth group is designed to facilitate jobs, appointments and empowerment for youths and students, he said this will make it easier to propagate the New Direction to all and sundry.
Omodara applauds the idea of the group, he advised that dealings of the group should not be blinded with selfish and personal interest but its benefit for Okun Nation in the nearest future. He further advised the group to meet with all Okun leaders in the New Direction for further action.
It would be recalled that the group paid a similar visit to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Prince) M.O. Kolawole about two weeks ago.
Okun Youths who were part of the visit are; Ola Adekunle, David Oni Sunday, Aina Oladipupo and Juwon Oloruntoba. Others are; Victor Anjorin, Temitope Alonge, Adeola Michael and Olajide Babalola.
