The Honorable Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Professor Stephen Ocheni has hailed the level of transformation going on in Kogi State under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello’s New Direction Government.
The Minister who gave the commendation in a statement through his Media Office said the people of the State are appreciative of the reforms and development going on in the State, referring to the Governor as a “reformer” with “phenomenal drive for change, transformation and development”.
“From the onset, I had no doubt that the New Direction Blueprint was going to take the state to a new pedestal of growth and development. It was masterpiece of a plan to reset the state and galvanize it for monumental development.
“I have studied the Thematic Areas of the administration and Participated in the implementation of government policies in the state having served as Chairman of the state Fiscal Policies Implementation Committee and therefore wish to commend the Governor for remaining focused on achieving his set goals despite the unfortunate distractions by people who are bent on bringing Kogi State down.
“If we have had such plans implemented by the previous administrations in the State, Kogi would have accelerated beyond the present level of economic development.
“I can see how Agriculture has been able to absorb a good number of our vibrant youth across the State. In the space of 2 years, farming has witnessed amazing attention and positioning for the prosperity of the State”.
Prof. Ocheni also hailed the Governor’s “magical intervention to curb insecurity in the State”, insisting that the Yahaya Bello Administration has delivered on “its primary mandate of ensuring security of lives and property in the State”.
In his words, “the manner in which the security architecture has been overhauled and the investment in the security apparatus have aided the state in changing the narratives of security of lives and property in the State.
“Some years back and even into the early months of the present administration, insecurity was rife and commuters were either robbed or kidnapped. I am glad the story has changed. I am proud that Kogi is now safe.
“Another area of tremendous development has been in the Health sector. Healthcare delivery indicators have been quite positive and encouraging. The Governor is also doing very well in the other sectors”.
Prof. Ocheni predicted a landslide victory for APC in the 2019 elections, saying the Governor is leading the party to the path of victory in the upcoming general elections.
“Kogi is no doubt for President Muhammadu Buhari because his son in the State has done well. APC will win the elections comfortably but we shall continue to work hard to win even more convincingly.
“I want to urge our great party men and women to continue to cooperate with our leader in the State, Governor Yahaya Bello. Last year’s rallies have shown that the people are with he Governor and with our party. But we cannot be complacent. The Governor is working hard to ensure APC performs well in the 2019 general elections”.
