Gov. Bello Appeals to FG, Army to Immortalize Gen. Abisoye

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has appealed to the federal government and the Nigerian military to immortalise the late Major General Emmanuel Abisoye for his enormous contribution to the peace, progress and development of the country and the army.
The Governor  made the appeal while speaking at an Inter-denominational memorial service and the launch of a Scholarship Foundation Endowment Fund in honour of late Major General Emmanuel Abisoye in Ogori, Ogori-Magongo local government area of the state.
Governor Bello pledged 10million Naira to support the scholarship foundation endowment fund.
He said the nation owe the late general a debt of gratitude having served the country as a soldier, a federal minister of health and as a member of the supreme military council.
Retired Major General David Jemibewon, while paying glowing tribute to late Major General Emmanuel Abisoye, described him as a great man who was upright and honest as he believed in justice and fairness.
A former member of the board of The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Alhaji Isah Ozi-Salami said the late icon was a nationalist who displayed determination in everything he did.
Also attesting to the good works of late Major General Emmanuel Abisoye, the National President of Ogori Descendants Union (ODU), Engineer Gbemi Omole and the National President of Magongo Descendants Union, Mr Afumi Francis, both eulogised him to be a man who loved his community having attracted federal presence to his area.
In her words the Chief Press Secretary to the Kogi State Governor, Mrs Petra Akinti Oyegbule described late Major General Emmanuel Abisoye as one who not only brought development to Ogori land but put the land on world map as he was a great patriot.
The immediate past Secretary to the Kogi State Government and pioneer Vice Chancellor of National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Professor Olugbemiro Jegede explained that in view of the late general’s contribution to the growth of the nation, the foundation and memorial service was organised.
Major Adedeji Obadaiya while appreciating everyone for the nice words used to describe the late Major General Emmanuel Abisoye, said the late general would be remembered by the family for his truthfulness and peaceful nature.
The late Major General Emmanuel Abisoye died  on the seventeenth of march last year and the memorial service was attended by top government functionaries both at the federal and state levels, traditional and religious leaders and both serving and retired military officers.
