Ganaja-Otokiti Road: Wada Satisfied With On-going Work

The Kogi State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada, has expressed satisfaction with the on-going work at the Ganaja-Otokiti bye pass.

Represented by his Deputy Yomi Awoniyi, while inspecting 9.5km of the road already opened up by the Construction Company, he disclosed that the administration’s aim is to open Lokoja to a new environment, tourism, education and housing sector.

Capt. Wada further disclosed that the purpose of the dual carriage road is for progress and development, and not about land grabbing.

While expressing satisfaction with the quality and the level of work already attained, the State Governor, called on those having issues with the on-going road construction, to document their concern and forward it to the State Government.

The Governor assured that  appropriate arrangement for compensation has been made, he however disclosed that following the realignment made on the road design, only few urban centers and houses will be affected by the road construction.

The Governor reiterated that his administration is mindful of its responsibilities to the citizenry, assured that his administration will partner with all relevant stakeholders in ensuring the development of the State.

Earlier in his remarks, Engr. Suleiman, the Supervising Engineer for the Ceezali Limited, the Construction Company handling the Ganaja-Otokiti bye pass, said aside the issues of compensation, and the redesign made in redirect the road through another route, which he noted affected the speedy progress of the work, he however assured that his company will offer quality job as well as promised timely completion of the road.

Also speaking, Engr. Sunday Baba, the Supervising Engineer, from the State Ministry of Works, said 9.54km out of the 16.7km stretch of the road has already been opened up. He commended the State Government for providing the enabling environment that has within six weeks of flagging-off of the road construction, enabled the contractor to move at a fast pace.
