By Yusuf Abubakar.
Senator Atai Aidoko Ali (Kogi East) said the reports of the committee on downstream does not reflect the true position of hardship Nigerians are going through.
Aidoko made this known on the floor of the Senate today while making contributions during the assessment of NNPC’s level of compliance in the supply chain of the petroleum products. He said nothing has changed.
He noted that the recent improved supply of petroleum products that was achieved in Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt was not sustained as scarcity resumed fully this week with commuters and motorists paying through their noses. He said long queues for fuel purchase is noticeable all around the cities.
Aidoko said the interim reports of the committee on downstream does not reflect the reality in the country. He stated that the report might be a product of executive manipulation.
The Federal lawmaker said state capitals, local government and other cities have not had a feel of the concocted reports as fuel prices have soared higher than the official rates with proliferation of black marketers.
He said the current administration has deliberately created unpalatable situation for the masses towards the period of Christmas and New Year coupled with harsh economic programs and policies.
Senator Aidoko urged the senate to look critically into the reports of the committee and if need be, review it as the NNPC is not living up to the expectations of Nigerians.
