A former Kogi House of Assembly candidate on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, Mr Sunday Maiyaki, has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

It would be recalled that Maiyaki, a former PDP Kogi House of Assembly candidate, Yagba West Local Government state constituency, had on May 8, 2023, resigned from the PDP.

Maiyaki, in a statement made available to Journalists on Tuesday in Lokoja, said he decided to pitch his tent with the people, saying ADC remained the people’s party.

“Though money is good and power is transient, but putting the people first defines democracy, so pitching your tent with the people is the best..

“It’s more than 3months today that i left the PDP; a sojourn of 25years, I considered being ‘party-less’ which will amount to keeping silence, but “Silence in the face of injustice is a crime” as opined by Martin Luther King (Jnr).

“Keeping power in the other two senatorial districts without considering Kogi West is not only a crime but an act of man inhumanity to man.

“It is an unforgivable sin to make one senatorial district subservient to the other two..

“After I have painstakingly considered the candidates from Western district and I felt the pulse of my people viz-a-viz the quest for power shift.

“I hereby joined the ADC officially today 6th of August, 2023 and to join them to sell the candidacy of Hon Leke Abejide.

“May Posterity be kind to me for my decision and may the people win always,” Maiyaki said.
